Chapter One
Our (anti?) Heroes find themselves in a bustling mercenary outpost on this early-fall day. There's currently a dispute going because the only job available calls for 10 people. A group of 6 has claimed the mission and announced to rest of the mercenaries they will temporarily allow 4 others to tag along for this one.
To get on the 10-man team the players will need to beat out the man next to them since there are 8 people vying for a spot.
Will they resort to violence or use their words?

If you want to try talking your opposing NPC mercenary out of it, you can use the following skills: Bluff, Diplomacy, or Intimidate.
DC 15 for Diplomacy (only Ton can try this)
DC = 1d20 for Intimidate (I'll roll for the goon if you try intimidating them)
If you try bluffing they'll have to roll against whatever you get on your roll
Their armor is 13 flatfooted or not if you want to try a sucker punch. If you draw a weapon or try casting a spell combat will start as normal, so initiative rolls to see who goes first.
Re: Chapter One
Noburu couldn't help but notice some kind of dispute going on by a small group of the many mercenaries that found themselves at this outpost. His curiosity took over as he approached the group to listen in to what was going on. There was only one job posting for the day and it required 10 mercenaries. 6 had already taken up the job and they were recruiting 4 more, but they were going to have to convince the next man to take his spot or kill him. Noburu's eyes shifted over to one of the mercenaries beside him who was vying for the spot. He placed his left hand on top of one of the two blades that rested on the side of his hip, contemplating taking the guy on. But Noburu wanted to avoid conflict if it was not necessary.
"There's no need for killing" Noburu began, looking to sway the other man's decision with diplomacy. "Is this one job posting worth risking our lives on, for these men you don't even know? There will be other postings in which you don't need to risk injury for, or even your life. Besides, you look like a capable fighter. If we avoid injury I see the two of us accompanying one another on later jobs."
Rolled: 14 + 6 = 20 Diplomacy

Re: Chapter One
"Speak for yourself mut." growled Oyamatsuchi in response to Noburu's attempt at being civil. A large shadow was cast over the group as he approached the gathering of mercenaries squabbling like children. Looking down at his fellow mercenaries the half ogre would slam his right fist into his open left palm and continued "Im going on this job. If any of you have a problem with it, I need some new bones to pick my teeth with."
Reaching over his right shoulder with his corresponding arm, Oyamatsuchi gripped the handle of his large great sword poking over his back and unhooked it, ready to decimate anyone who opposed him.
OOC: D and I did the intimidate roll already and i failed, also got lower on the initiative roll so the npc goes first.

Re: Chapter One
The mercenary closest to Oyama turned towards the half-ogre. He reached for his dagger and was planning to try shanking the much larger target, but hesitated when he realized the thing on Oyama's back was a sword.
Thinking there's no way the half-ogre could actually wield that thing, the mercenary pulled out his dagger. He drove it up into Oyama's abdomen, actually managing to pierce the skin and almost hitting a vital.
Noburu's words swayed the man nearest to him. "You're right, the money's not worth it. Good luck to ya." he says to Noburu before leaving the outpost.

"All this quarrel and commotion for a job posting. I knew this land had vile creatures, but this is just embarrassing" muttered Ujizuku under his breath. With one hand on his chin and the other on his hip, he seemed confused but knew more than he led on.
With a much louder voice now, looking at no one in particular, he looked at the band of mercenaries and said "a job posting for 10 people, this seems like dirty work that only a fool would take part in. Sounds like a lot of teamwork that you guys can't handle, are you sure its even worth it?"

Re: Chapter One
The chubby goon clearing his nasal cavity took heed to Uji's words. The fight going on at the same time helped the wizard's point. "Yeah, I'm not working with you bunch of pansies. Have fun killin' each other." he said as he flicked a booger away and left.
Zo turned to the mercenary next to him and said, "I've worked for this employer before. He's going to send us on a suicide mission and try paying the survivors less than offered." The man contemplated the goblin's words and decided they seemed genuine and believable. "Fuck it." he muttered and left shaking his head.
Rolled an 9 - 1 = 8 (sense motive was the counter-skill, it uses wisdom, the thug's wisdom is 9, hence the -1)

11 + 7 on my bluff check.

Re: Chapter One
Oyamatsuchi felt the cold steel pierce through his unprotected flesh, the scent of his own blood igniting his killer instinct. Letting loose a ferocious roar, the half ogre pulled the large great sword over his right shoulder and in one clean motion, he grabbed hold of the handle with both hands and swung it down at an angle, aiming to cleave the mercenary from his right shoulder down to his left hip.

Re: Chapter One
Oyama's swing flattened the thug into the ground, spraying blood up into the air. He was unconscious and still breathing, but fading fast.
"Well I guess that settles it," the bald leader of the mercenary gang said after shaking off his awe and shock, "you four will be tagging along with us. Keep yer yaps shut and do as I say. Try us and we'll put you down like dogs. Understood? Great."
He moved to a wooden table and unrolled a map on its surface. He'd point out with his finger the small village where they were suppose to meet the warlord hiring them. "It's a half-day trip by foot, if we leave now, we can make it before sunset. We'll cut through the forest."
With that, the party was off.
***
As they trekked through the woods, the group would be plagued by two annoyances: wasps and the howls of wolves.
Pushing on, they'd come across a halfling (human the size of a goblin) sitting in a tree. He was playing a shamisen (guitar) and singing to himself. As the group passed, he'd cry out "Oi! Spare some coins, would ya?" Without giving a second look, the bald gang leader spat, "Shove it, shrimp shit." The halfling smirked and went back to happily playing his shamisen and singing. His hair was slicked with some styling substance and a closer inspection would reveal his clothes were actually quite fine and expensive-looking.
***
A short time later, only a few more kilometers away from the village, the party would hear a howl frighteningly close. "Look alive..." Baldie warned as the group was surrounded by a pack of snarling wolves.
Zo drew his sickle and looked around to see how he could use the people and surroundings to his advantage.

Re: Chapter One
Noburu watched tentatively as one of the bandits actually attempted to take down the half Ogre. In one clean swing the ogre took out the bandit, but the bandit seemed to still be breathing. Maybe the ogre held back? Whatever it was, the group of ten had been formed. The four new members, consisting of a half ogre, a goblin, and another human like Noburu himself. Surprisingly, it was he who caught Noburu's attention. The samurai wondered how someone like him who didn't look like some who would resort to close quarters combat would survive being surrounded by bandits as such. He'd have to keep an eye on him.
Noburu payed no attention to the bald "leader" of the group. He simply fell in line and followed as they headed towards the warlord hiring them. The Young Wolf was un-phased by the howling, it was common to encounter beasts when traveling in woods, though he did give the occasional swat to the wasps hovering around his face. He also payed no mind to the guitar singing dwarf. He instead tried staying on guard in case they were attacked, left hand grasping the sheathe of his katana.
Then it happened, howling of wolves as the group of bandits were surrounded by a pack. Flicking his left thumb, Noburu popped his katana out of its sheathe as he pulled it out with his right hand releasing a sharp ear piercing sound. He twirled to look behind him as his eyes fell upon one of the wolves. "It's probably best I fight away from the half-ling" Noburu said to himself noticing Oyama was right beside him. One stray swing from his sword and Noburu could lose his head.

Re: Chapter One
Oyamatsuchi let out a monstrous laughter as he watched the mercenary before him drop to the ground, his crimson blood splattering the dirt behind him. The ogre pointed the tip of his sword downwards and slammed it through the torso of the unconscious mercenary and 3 feet into the ground. Letting go of his large great sword, Oyamatsuchi would kneel over the corpse and loot what little belongings he had. Raising back to his full height of 7ft5, the half ogre would step down on the corpse and violently pulled his blade out of the ground and the corpse, swinging the still blood stained sword over his shoulder and onto his back.
A grin revealing his jagged fangs spread across the ogre's face as the self proclaimed leader started shouting out orders and threats "Call me a dog again and we'll see who gets put down." The ogre began to chuckle, ready to slice down another opponent having already felt the rush of killing his first victim. While the congregation proceeded to the table to look over the map, Oyamatsuchi failed to do so. He remained where he stood and counted his loot and analysed the lock.
Once it was time to leave the ogre stomped on from the back of the pack, following them wherever the went. He paid little attention to the wasps and plagued him or the owls of the wolves, his time in the mountains were far more trechorous than this forest. He also payed no mind to the stump of a person on the road, the vermin was not worth his time. As the wolves surrounded them, Oyamatsuchi wretched free his large great sword and gleefully growled "Ahh, some fresh meat."

Re: Chapter One
The wolves howling came as no surprise. Uji knew that with the commotion of what just happened with the job posting, the guitar player, and Oyamatsuchi laughter- that they were only looking for attention. He thought to himself if he should have said anything, but then quickly rationalized that no one would care what the human had to say, they weren't friends- they were just men on a job. As the wolves cries got louder, Uji knew that traversing the forest quietly as to not make any more noise was anything but an option. To not make any more mistakes he'd regret later, he pulled out his kaiken and got ready for whatever had to be dealt with.
"I guess there's no turning back now" he said to himself, but as he moved his eyes from the sky to ahead of him, he noticed that Oyamatsuchi great sword was now ready to taste some blood and so he held his kaikens that much tighter.

Re: Chapter One
With adrenaline pumping through his body and fury raging in his eyes, Oyamatsuchi's ferocious gaze shifted over towards the wolf rushing towards the scrawny goblin. For any normal human, the wolf would have been out of their range of attack. But for a half human half ogre such as Oyamatsuchi who wielded a massive great sword, the wolf was just in range to be slaughtered. Bringing the huge blade behind his right shoulder, with two hands he would viciously swing the sword over his shoulder and down into the rushing wolf in one swift swooping motion.

Re: Chapter One
You also add 6 to your damage because you're 2-handing the sword (str mod * 1.5)
So 15 damage total
The half-ogre's swing sent the wolf rolling away, spraying blood as it went. The creature did not get back up.
"I owe you one." Zo lied, never taking his eyes off the other predators.

Re: Chapter One
Noburu heard as one of the wolves dash forward with no hesitation, though he did not take his eyes off the wolf standing about 20ft ahead of him. Next thing he heard, the half-ling swung his massive weapon taking the wolfs life in a single hit. Noburu's first thought of action was to charge at the wolf and strike it before it could strike him. But he didn't know how many more wolves were out there and if some were waiting to strike once the group split a bit. Instead, Noburu slightly spread his legs while bending his knees strengthening his center of gravity. Next he leveled his katana with his hip while also being parallel to the ground, moving the blade to point behind him. Noburu entered a basic defensive stance making it seem as though he were leaving himself open, waiting for the wolf to make the first move.
Entered Defensive Stance: +4 to AC

Re: Chapter One
Bearing their fangs and drooling, wolf 1 and 2 ran at Nobu and Oyama respectively.
Wolf 1 lunged, biting nothing but air.
Wolf 2 bit into Oyama's leg, but couldn't pierce the armor/flesh there.

Re: Chapter One
The stench of blood gloriously filled Oyamatsuchi's nostrils as the half ogre's massive sword sliced right through the hound and smashed into the ground. The delight Oyamatsuchi had from his slaughter left him temporarily unaware and open to the rushing wolf that attempted to bury its fangs into the thick muscles of his leg. Th bite could not draw blood but Oyamatsuchi could. Pulling his arms backwards while still two handing his weapon, the ogre would drag his sword across the ground and bring it across the wolves torso.
Missed the wolf

Ujikazu did not know how to size up the group of creatures he was travelling into the forest with, but he began to realize that the same would not be said when they leave the forest. The events that unfolded infront of hi only went to further prove what he had already known about goblins- they were conniving little creature
Right now Uji had wolves to think about. The wolves position could be bad in terms of cover (there is none), or good as the wolf is a clear shot away. Never taking his eyes off the wolf; he put away his knife and took out his staff in one swift movement. Now holding it parallel to the ground and his feet separated, Uji utters words under his breath that no one can really make out. The wolf stares blankly into Uji's eyes, the rest of the group stares waiting for the wolf to attack.

@J With what you rolled for Hypnotism, you can actually affect 2 of the wolves. They have to be within 30ft of each other, so the 2nd target has to be wolf 1.
wolf 4 rolled a 2 + 1 + 2 = 5; failed
wolf 1 rolled a 2 + 1 + 2 = 5; failed
Uji entranced the wolves nearest to himself and Nobu, forcing them to sit and stare blankly at him.
With 2 wolves hypnotized and the other focused on the half-ogre, Zo sprung into action. He took a few steps forward and swung his free arm, sending his kaiken flying like a dart. The dagger whizzed by the beast and stabbed into a patch of dirt next to it.
"Shifty bastard..." Zo cursed as the wolf evaded a 2nd attack in a row now.

Noburu managed to shift slightly just managing to avoid the clutching jaws of the wolf charging at him. Just as he was about to strike, Noburu noticed the wolf stop moving. The wolf simply sat down in front of the samurai not moving. Noburu wasted no time and took this opportunity to strike the beast. Noburu swung his katana from bottom to top slashing the immobile wolf. Splashing blood into the air, Noburu brought his katana down back in front of him in case the wolf survived his initial strike.

Re: Chapter One
Again the wolf struck for Oyamatsuchi and again it was unable to pierce the thick flesh of the half ogre. Swinging the large great sword over his right shoulder and viciously bringing it down, the giant slab of metal would cleave right through the wolf. Slicing through fur, muscle tissue and bone the sword would separate the front half of the wolf from the back half as Oyamatsuchi violently ended its life.
Rolled 19, then 17 so critical hit

Re: Chapter One
Uji thought that he deserved a nod from Nobu but knew he was foolish if he thought he was ever gonna get any appreciation for hypnotizing the wolves. With two wolves dead and one wounded, there was still another wolf to think about.
Uji stayed close to the people he walked into the forrest with but still kept his distance. Zo looked like the kind of creature who'd push you to the wolves while he ran and Oyama looked like the kind of person who would swing for the wolves but if his sword caught your head than it was your fault for being in the way. Uji still had trouble gauging what kind of person Nobu was but figured he'd think of that once all the wolves were taken care of.
There were still wolves to kill but he thought he'd let Zo get a kill since he was having a pretty shitty day anyway. Kills didn't mean much to the wizard, he knew he'd have his time to shine.
OoC: did nothing.
